The cello is a great choice of instrument for beginner musicians. Whatever the age, ability, or need of the player there is a cello to suit. If you are a beginner and you are looking to play the cello we have a few tips to help you get started.
Tips for Buying a Cello:
When choosing a cello it is important to get the correct size for the player. Having the correct size will ensure that the player can easily reach the fingerboard, develop the correct posture and technique, and is comfortable whilst they play. To find the correct size cello you can use the age, height, arm length, and finger span of the player. To find your size check out our Cello Size Guide.
Depending on the the level you are as a player will influence the cello you will get. As a beginner player you are best to get a cello that has been specifically designed for beginners and then upgrade your instrument as you go.
Price is an important factor for most when choosing an instrument. There will be range of options available to you across every price range to suit your needs and budget. It is worth bearing in mind when choosing a cello that younger players are likely to upgrade their instrument as they grow and all players will probably want to upgrade their instrument as their playing develops.
