Yamaha’s YTS62 Bb tenor saxophone is held in high regard by professional players all over the world. It has been a bestseller for more than 20 years and is currently in its third generation of design. Like all Yamaha instruments, it is very reliably constructed and looks fantastic. The rich tone it produces is also second to none and the keywork’s natural layout is famously playable.

Its body is made from ribbed brass which has undergone an acoustic annealing process that makes the metal stronger and optimises its density at a molecular level to ensure even vibration and a rich resonant sound. The detachable G1 neck has a narrow bore that has been carefully shaped to provide a versatile tone that responds very quickly. Both sections are finished in a choice of gold lacquer or silver plate and the bell features some elegant hand engraving.

The saxophone’s key work includes high F# and front F keys, a reliable B/C# mechanism, a comfortable tilting low B, and two-piece key guards that facilitate ultra-precise adjustments to the action. The whole system has been very carefully shaped and spaced to make the instrument as comfortable and natural as possible to hold, and an adjustable thumb rest and strap hook means musicians of any size will find this tenor sax easy to play.

Every YTS62 tenor sax comes supplied in a semi hard case with rucksack straps and plenty of space for sheet music and accessories. Outfits also include everything a saxophonist will need to get playing straight away: a Yamaha TS4C mouthpiece and cap, a reed and ligature, a comfy neck strap, and a polishing cloth.
