Yamaha Artist glockenspiel

Yamaha’s YG2500 is a 3 1/3 octave glockenspiel suitable for players of any level including professional percussionists. It is designed to be portable, practical, and affordable without compromising on quality. Like all Yamaha instruments, this set of orchestral bells delivers an unbeatable tone and is built to last.

Each of the 41 bars is made of tempered steel with a high carbon content which produces a beautifully bright piercing tone. Their width and thickness is consistent throughout and only the essential accidentals have cutaway resonators beneath them thereby reducing the overall weight and cost of the glockenspiel significantly. The bells are tuned to Deagan/Yamaha specifications where A=442Hz.

These bars are connected together and suspended on the frame with a thick string rather than a more conventional pin mounting. This allows for maximum resonance of each bar. There is also a foot-operated damper pedal that raises a strip of felt against the underside of the bars to stifle them. This can be locked in place at any position to make overall adjustments to the glock’s sustain.

When playing, the keyboard should be attached to its sturdy metal frame. This features a crossbar support and angle brace for extra stability, and folds down easily for transport or storage. It is also easy for percussionists of any age to change the stand’s height without worrying about the weight of the bells, as its telescopic struts are equipped with pneumatic adjusters. The whole assembly sits atop 4 lockable castors making it easy to wheel the glockenspiel around stage.
