Yamaha YUS1 upright piano

The YUS1 is an enhanced version of Yamaha’s erstwhile favourite U1 upright piano and benefits from the decades of development devoted to that model. It features the same overall build and component quality but also comes with better strings for a supercharged tone and hand-made hammer felts to guarantee an even action.

Its case has been subtly altered too, with the somewhat harsh corners being replaced by natural curves to provide a uniquely sophisticated look. Like the U1, the solid spruce soundboard features 5 back posts for unbeatable stability and sustain.

Modern musicians will be glad to hear that the YUS1 is available as a Silent Piano. This ingenious mechanism mutes the piano without affecting its ultra-smooth action and triggers high quality samples which can be heard through headphones thereby allowing pianists to practise at unsociable hours of the day without disturbing their neighbours.

A TransAcoustic version of the piano is also available. This amazing technology has all the features of a Silent Piano system with many more connection options and features, and includes electric piano sounds and other samples which can be amplified using the body of the instrument itself – no speakers necessary! It has to be seen to be believed.
