Bach TB501 Bb tenor trombone

Vincent Bach was a pioneer of brass instrument design and built a successful manufacturing business from scratch during the first half of the twentieth century. He sold his company to Selmer Music (Now Conn-Selmer Inc) in 1961, but his name still lives on in the ever-popular line of instruments and mouthpieces which are still made according to his specifications.

The TB501 is an entry level Bb tenor trombone designed to give beginners a smooth start to their life as a brass player. It’s easy to control and produces a smooth bright tone.

Each trombone is constructed from yellow brass with a nickel silver hand fork and slide and the inner tube is chrome plated which will ensure that the action doesn’t slow with age. The whole instrument is coated with a classic clear lacquer which gives the trombone a shiny finish and adds a subtle warmth to its tone.

A 0.5” bore provides the perfect amount of resistance for young beginners and an 8” bell encourages confident projection. The tuning slide is reversed which means that the inner tube is welded to the main instrument rather than the adjustment. This allows air to flow through freely without having to ‘jump’ over a metal lip.

It comes in a protective rucksack-style case with a moulded interior, and the outfit includes a 12C mouthpiece and a pot of slide grease. The 12C has a diameter of 24.5mm with a medium depth cup, features which are known for helping beginners to develop the best possible embouchure.
