Stentor supply their world class student 'cellos to more than 30 countries and are the UK’s leading distributor of musical instruments. Their Conservatoire violoncello outfit is often chosen as an upgrade by intermediate level learners looking to improve their tone and develop their playing style, and is available in four sizes from full (4/4) size down to quarter (1/4) size.
Hand carved from solid tone woods, the Conservatoire ‘cello features a spruce top with inlaid purfling, and flamed maple back, ribs, and neck, all finished in an elegant Shellax varnish. This lacquer protects the instrument’s surfaces, enhances their resonance, and shows off the wood grain beautifully. The sophisticated aesthetic is enhanced further by the addition of a smooth ebony fingerboard and tuning pegs.
The metal tailpiece that holds the string tension features 4 in-built screws for easy fine tuning adjustment. By default, the cello comes with factory fitted synthetic core strings which replicate the warmth of real gut and will last for a long time. A high quality brazilwood bow is also included in the outfit along with a pot of ‘cello rosin. Each bow has an ebony frog and natural white horsehair, and has been precisely machined for optimum balance.
Everything is packed in a lightweight hard case that has plenty of room inside for accessories as well as a large exterior music pocket. Detachable shoulder straps are also supplied with the case to make it easier to carry.
