35mm wound wool heads with hard rubber core
Each of the heads on this pair of mallets are made from a hard rubber bulb wrapped in tightly wound yarn. These types of beater are most frequently used with vibraphones and marimbas, as the cushioning effect of the woollen layer both protects the delicately tuned bars from damage and brings out the characteristic low-pitched resonance of the instruments. This hard pair will produce a moderate attack sound too making them particularly suited to the higher register and bringing out important melodic lines when playing in ensembles. They could also be used to produce a warmer tone than unwrapped soft sticks from instruments without resonators such as the xylophone. Sold as a pair.
