4.3 octave padauk marimba for beginners
The Soloist range of marimbas from Adams are designed for beginners and young players but have many features in common with their professional level instruments. This 4.3 octave model is the largest in the series and has a total range from A2 to C7. Its robust construction and relative affordability also make it an ideal instrument for schools and amateur ensembles. All the bars are made from padauk which is cheaper than traditional rosewood but just as sonorous and aesthetically pleasing. Each one is slightly narrower than Adams’ more expensive models which will help inexperienced marimbists get used to spreading two beaters with one hand. Unlike other student marimbas, the MSPV bars are also graded in width and precisely tuned using computers (A = 442Hz). Transporting large percussion has always been difficult – especially for young musicians – but the Soloist marimbas feature folding rails and resonators making them quick and easy to dismantle, and meaning that the whole instrument will fit in most car boots. The MSPV43 is also surprisingly light as its rank of welded resonators has been limited to the essentials only. Movement around stage is made easy thanks to the lockable wheels on each of the marimba’s sturdy legs, and the Voyager frame is also height adjustable ensuring that aspiring percussionists of any age will find it comfortable to play. Every marimba comes with a set of mallets and a dust cover for the keyboard. Please note that all large tuned percussion instruments including marimbas, xylophones, and vibraphones require assembly and each component is packaged individually for safety.
