Description

Introducing the Kawai CA-59 Digital Piano

The Kawai Concert Artist Series CA-59 is a well appointed mid-range digital piano, with an enhanced feature set over the entry level CA-49 including Bluetooth audio streaming, and a USB audio record and playback facility.

Its speaker system, designed by well known Japanese audio equipment manufacturer Onkyo, is more powerful and features a bass speaker enclosure for a richer bass sound.

Its Grand Feel Compact action features wooden keys, resting on a balance pin, just like those found in an acoustic grand. Ivory feel surfaces and escapement complete a truly grand piano like playing experience.

The CA-59 comes in rosewood, satin black or satin white and will be an attractive addition to any home decor.

Grand Feel Compact wooden-key action

All 88 black and white keys are crafted entirely from long pieces of wood, with finely textured Ivory Touch key surfaces applied to assist playing control. As with an acoustic grand piano action, the keys rest on a metal balance pin and move with a smooth seesaw-like motion, while the extended pivot length ensures a consistent, evenly-balanced touch weight – even when playing towards the back of the key.

The Grand Feel Compact action also incorporates grade-weighted hammers, bass region counterweights, and let-off simulation for added authenticity, while its accurate triple-sensor key detection system allows rapidly repeated notes such as trills to be performed smoothly, without unnatural breaks in sound.

The magnificent sound of the Shigeru Kawai SK-EX concert grand

The CA59 digital piano's primary piano sound comes from Kawai’s flagship Shigeru Kawai SK-EX concert grand piano, along with the sound of the highly acclaimed EX concert grand piano. Both pianos have been meticulously sampled and faithfully reproduced using Harmonic Imaging™ sound technology. This unique process accurately recreates the broad dynamic range of the original grand pianos, affording pianists an extraordinary level of expressiveness ranging from the softest pianissimo to the strongest, boldest fortissimo.

Virtual Technician digitally simulates the subtleties of the acoustic piano sound, allowing performers to shape various aspects of the piano’s tonal character and playability to suit their unique personal preferences, before storing favourite setups to memory for immediate recall.

Premium sound system by Onkyo

Unrivalled in its price range, the CA59 features an impressive 4-way system in combination with ONKYO designed audio circuits to reproduce the harmonic spectrum of an acoustic piano. Lower range frequencies are delivered through the underside of the instrument, while mid and high frequencies are projected outward via top-mounted speakers, closely mirroring the sound projection of a grand piano.

OLED display

Tucked away in the left cheek-block of the CA59 is a graphic OLED display and intuitive control panel for easy operation.

On-board record facility

A three song record facility allows performances to be recorded to internal memory and played back at the touch of a button. Its convenient lesson feature allows aspiring pianists to learn the piano using a built-in collection of etudes from Czerny and Burgmüller, or songs from the popular Alfred course books. The left and right hand parts for each piece can be practiced separately, while adjusting the tempo allows more difficult passages to be perfected..

Enhanced headphones experience

The CA Series’ Spatial Headphone Sound (SHS) technology enhances the depth and realism of the instrument’s various sounds when using headphones or earphones, while also helping to reduce auditory fatigue when listening for extended periods of time.

Bluetooth connectivity

In addition to standard MIDI jacks for connecting to other instruments, the CA59 digital piano also boasts integrated Bluetooth MIDI technology that allows the instrument to communicate with supported smart devices wirelessly. Once connected to a phone, tablet, or laptop, CA59 digital piano owners can enjoy a wide variety of exciting music-related apps that enhance their learning and playing experience without additional cables. The integrated Bluetooth Audio feature with aptX compatibility lets you connect your mobile devices to listen to your music library and play along with it.

USB to device, with USB audio record and playback facility

The CA-59's ‘USB to Device’ feature allows instrument settings or recorded songs stored in internal memory to be saved to USB for posterity, or standard MIDI files (SMF) downloaded from the internet to be conveniently played back without additional hardware. USB memory devices can also be used to play back MP3 or WAV audio files, allowing musicians to learn the chords or melody for a new piece, or to simply play along with their favourite songs. It is even possible to record performances as MP3 or WAV files for emailing to friends and family, listening to on the move, or for further editing using an audio workstation.

Adjustable music desk angle

As with a grand piano, the viewing angle of the CA Series’ music rest can be adjusted to suit the performer’s playing position, or laid flat for convenience when notating scores.

Authentic pedal response

Reinforcing the CA Series’ reputation as the most realistic digital pianos in their price range is Kawai’s Grand Feel Pedal System. This new development accurately replicates the position and individual weighting of the damper, soft, and sostenuto pedals of a Shigeru Kawai SK-EX concert grand piano to further enhance playing authenticity.
