Reliable student bassoon outfit for players with small hands
The JP191MKII is a dependable student bassoon with shortreach key work, designed for beginners and players with small hands. Bassoons are notoriously expensive, but John Packer has somehow managed to keep the price of this entry-level model extraordinarily low while maintaining its reliable build quality, accurate intonation, and a mellifluous woody tone.
Like most more expensive instruments, its main body tubing is built from beautifully lacquered maple wood and dismantles into 4 sections for storage and transport. The shaping of the bassoon’s bore has been improved by this second-generation model to ensure optimum airflow and tuning.
All the keywork attached to the bassoon is silver plated to protect against corrosion, and the complete system is presented in a short reach layout. The whole instrument is as big and heavy as a full-sized instrument, but adapted mechanisms place the keys closer together thereby allowing junior players to reach everything comfortably without overstretching.
This instrument also features an adjustable balancing arm and floor spike to help young aspiring bassoonists cope with the weight of a full size instrument. Learning on a bassoon this size makes the transition to a professional instrument much easier when the time comes.
Every outfit comes in a hard case with a moulded interior and plenty of room for extra accessories. 2 bocals (or crooks), 1 reed, a neck strap, and some cleaning accessories are also included.
