Elkhart 100CR Bb cornet

The Elkhart 100CR short model Bb cornet is a well-designed student instrument constructed from robust yellow brass. Its excellent intonation and playability raise it above other entry level models making it a great choice for beginners.

A red brass lead pipe gives the cornet a characteristic mellow sound that is very easy to produce consistently, thereby encouraging young players to practise. The valve pistons are made from stainless steel, and the tuning slides from durable nickel silver. Both the 1st and 3rd valve slides have finger rings to facilitate real-time fine tuning while playing. Two water keys allow easy expulsion of unwanted moisture, and a clear lacquer finish protects against the elements.

Learning the cornet is a good way to start playing the trumpet as mechanically the two are the same, but the former is also a very versatile instrument in its own right. A cornet’s centre of gravity is closer to the player making it easier for young hands to master, and a wider conical bore gives it a fluid even tone that is well suited to melodic lines.

The 100CR is supplied with a practical hard moulded foam case with shoulder straps that offers rugged protection and lots of space for cleaning materials and other accessories.
