Description

Of all the Yamaha upright pianos it is the ‘U’ series instruments which have the most respected reputation. These practice room stalwarts have been in continuous production since the 1950s and continuous development during the intervening decades has created the fine instruments available today.

The U1 is the smaller of the two models and so is naturally the one most often considered as a domestic purchase. It features a solid spruce soundboard with five back posts to enhance overall resonance and contribute towards the standout structural stability. A specially designed rib configuration also adds further strength and sustain.

Each hammer is made with extra durable materials designed to provide the best possible tone production and response while ensuring that the action will maintain long term peak performance. All these components are housed in the piano’s handsome traditional style case which features a hinged top lid, long music rest, practice pedal, and soft closing fall.

Like most Yamaha upright pianos, the U1 is available with the renowned SH silent module. This is capable of effectively turning it into a digital instrument with the push of a button, allowing pianists to mute the strings and practice with headphones at unsociable hours without sacrificing the feel of a real acoustic action.

It is also available as a Disklavier ENSPIRE model, featuring the latest advances in piano technology. Yamaha have led the way with self-playing pianos for decades but the latest innovations have to be seen to be believed. A Disklavier piano can play itself extremely accurately from either a library of purchased music or from your own recorded performances, and play along with rich orchestral or pop inspired accompaniments thanks to its Tyros 5 sound engine. Using your iOS or Android device you can also download and stream music directly to your piano making it the ultimate home entertainment unit.

The newest addition is the U1TA TransAcoustic model. This technological advance allows you to have all the advantages of a high quality digital piano without losing any of the traditional qualities of an acoustic piano. The TransAcoustic model incorporates a number of high quality sampled sounds and uses the solid wood soundboard as a natural speaker. Please note: both Disklavier ENSPIRE and TransAcoustic piano systems are also fully functioning Silent pianos.
