Adams’ tilting concert bass drums are high quality instruments suitable for percussion sections of all levels from school ensembles to professional orchestras. They are available in a range of sizes, each built using the same practical design.
The bass drum shell is made from mahogany with strong 2” hoops, and is 18” deep regardless of head diameter. It features two small ventilation holes to allow the drum to breathe thereby improving its response and projection. A cymbal mount and the fixtures for attaching the drum to its stand are also built directly in to the shell. Simplifying the components in this manner makes the whole instrument very sturdy.
Fourteen tensioning lugs with silent insulated mechanisms are spaced around each side. They are used to raise and lower the pitch of the drum by tightening and loosening the Remo Fiberskyn II heads. These skins reproduce the sound and feel of traditional calf skin, but are much more durable and easy to maintain.
Tilting the drum to any angle is easily done using the simple locking handle on the side of the stand. When disengaged, the drum can rotate freely through 360 degrees. The base of the frame sits on four swivelling wheels with foot operated locks facilitating easy transportation around stage and secure positioning when being played. It also incorporates an extended bar with a foot rest to aid players’ balance when dampening the drum.
