Yamaha’s YV2700 Studio vibraphone is an exceptional instrument for intermediate students and young professional percussionists. Its practical design makes it an ideal choice for schools and its unbeatable tone quality and playability will suit and enthuse musicians of any genre.
All 37 bars and resonators are made from the same high grade aluminium alloy as the Yamaha professional models and shaped using their exclusive tuning method that ensures perfectly true pitch. They are tuned to A4=442Hz and have a total range of 3 octaves from F3-F6.
There are two finishes available, each providing a distinctive sound; mirrorlike gold (YV2700G) has a brighter sound with clearer projection, while satin silver (YV2700) is warmer and more mellow. The vibraphone’s timbre and sustain can be further manipulated by pressing the large damper swivel pedal.
A row of rotating aluminium discs (known as fans) on a spindle across all the vibraphone’s resonators. When these are spun they open and close the tubes thereby creating a characteristic tremolo effect (often wrongly referred to as vibrato). A silent electric motor built into the side allows players to control the fan speed precisely with a simple slider. It also features a silent pause button to allow ultimate expression without unwanted noise.
The whole vibe keyboard is attached to a sturdy frame which is fully height adjustable and easy to transport. It sits upon four welded wheels with pneumatic tyres, two of which can be locked in place for stability when playing. Unlike many other vibraphones, the YV2700 can be wheeled through a normal 3’ wide doorway with plenty of room on either side.
